As Omaha Public Schools announced their 3/2 Plan, Kids Can began developing a Fall Programming Plan for our elementary students and families.  Our focus is on maximizing our program hours and our facility capacities to serve as many families for the most hours as possible. Unfortunately, we will have to make some significant changes to our service delivery. There is not a solution that meets the needs of every family. In balancing the restriction of physical space and the safety precautions we are unable to provide both full day programming and before and after school programs. To help us decide which option to pursue, Kids Can conducted a survey to determine family’s preferences and over 75% of responses indicated they would most benefit from a switch to full day programming.

Therefore, Kids Can will implement the following Full Day School Age Programming plan beginning August 11th to serve our families whose children attend Omaha Public Schools only.

Kids Can will offer full-day programming for Omaha Public Schools families on the following days:

  •  Families placed in the category of last names L-Z: Monday, Tuesday, every other Wednesday
  •  Families placed in the category of last names A-K: Every other Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

Kids Can looks forward to resuming our normal operations of Before/Afterschool and Daybreak programming if and when OPS return to 100% onsite learning.

Rooms will be segmented based on the school your child attends in order to limit exposure between buildings. The daily schedule will include 3 hours of distant learning support to help children complete all online and take-home requirements by from your child’s OPS school. Free Choice and Outdoor time will also be scheduled along with afternoon STEMsmart Academy programming. Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack will be served daily.

Kids Can will be following OPS mask procedures with all elementary students and staff will be wearing masks on-site. Our daily schedule will include mask breaks while outside and during meals.

Registration will be on first come-first serve basis as spots are limited.  All families will be required to complete a new registration packet to enroll for Fall Programming. Please contact Stephanie Stickels at 402-731-6988 or to make an appointment to complete registration information

Hours will be from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and includes breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. Program fees are $33 per day or $165 per week. Child Care Subsidy (Title XX) payment is accepted, some scholarships are available. You may download more information about our rates here.

Each day will be filled with fun, food & friends! Kids Can focuses activity centers and projects on STEMsmart Academy which includes Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Strength, Music, Arts, Reading and Tutoring. We want to encourage all children to exercise their brain and body throughout the year and especially during out-of-school times.

You may stop in anytime to fill out registration forms. We must have the completed forms as well as a copy of your children’s immunization records. Your deposit, registration fee and first week’s payments will be due before your child begins. You can directly download a release contract, child record, CACFP form and immunization. To complete the registration process, call 402-731-6988. We are a state-licensed childcare (provider #77283875), Child Care Subsidy (Title XX) payments are accepted.
